Beautiful places in Fiji

  1. Tavarua:

Tavarua
Fiji is one of the most beautiful countries and contains a notable number of must visiting places. Tavarua is one of the scenic locations in Fiji and mostly famous across the globe for the heart shape. In fact Tavarua is a heart-shaped island resort located in Fiji. The entire area of the resort is set on around 29 acres of lands. Being close to the mainland of Fiji, communication with this island is easier. The coral reefs that surround the island have increased the beauty of the island. Visitors mostly go to the island for recreational purposes and those include surfing, kite surfing, diving, scuba diving, fishing, snorkeling etc. Besides, the visitors have also the chances to participate in some outdoor sports like tennis, swimming among others. There are several surfing breaks available in the island and they are filled with waves for surfing. The island is also filled with comfortable decorations and modern amenities for the visitors. The accommodation system is adorable and the foods are also delicious. Now, the island resort has become a destination with family members and even many newlywed couples come here for honeymoon as well.


2. Yasawa:

The grass-covered paradise (islands), Yasawa Island Group is located on the western border of Fiji. The beaches of the islands are painted with natural blue and thus look brilliant. Actually, the islands are filled with so much natural beauties that this is a must visiting place for the foreigners in Fiji. The islands will provide a break to the visitors. The resorts in the islands are decorated with the local elements and thus there are no modern facilities available to make them feel a quiet and real natural environment. Civilization is far away from the islands. The island group was discovered in 1789 by a British navigator. The islands turned into tourist spots during the 1950s and became completely a tourist heaven after 1987. The tourists in the island could accommodate them in the backpacker resorts run by the local islanders. The features of the resorts are equal to any star-rated hotels but they come with some specific restrictions. The environments are natural and the waves and sounds from the sea make the environment more attractive. The island group is best for sailing, snorkeling, fishing, swimming or sea cruise. Barbeques at night is the other attraction for the visitors.


3. Monuriki:

Originated from a volcano, Monuriki is one the tiny islands in the Pacific Ocean and the entire land covers around 0.4 square kilometers. The entire island is surrounded by coral reef that has raised the natural beauty for the island and the volcanic rocks, small beaches, lagoons attract the visitors most. The slightly mountainous island is not inhibited by people but visitors from the nearby archipelago frequently come here to visit and enjoy the natural beauty. The island is also known as the Castaway Island to the locals. The island produces coconuts, screw pines and pandanus. Besides, some other spices from the coastal forest are also found in the island. The island is inhabited by iguanas and they also have some breeding program here. Moreover, some other wild species are also found here and they live on the vegetations and insects of the island. Sea turtles also have made this place as their breeding ground. Currently the forests are under different threat and being destructed by different means. The temperature is moderate on the island and it remains warm from November to April every year. The island has also been used in movies and after the movie release, the island became of the most important tourist destinations in Fiji.

 

4. Kadavu Island:

The 37 miles long Kadavu Island belongs to Kadavu Province in Fiji and is ruled based of Chief system. This is the largest volcanic archipelago in the locality and has many modern facilities including an airport, government offices, schools, hospitals and others. The island is divided into two parts and contains mountains and some hilly areas. The tallest mountain is named as the Mount Washington and located at the western part of the island. The enriched bird diversity is accommodated at the rain-forest. The island is also the home of a scuba diving resort which is a great attraction for the tourists. Despite being naturally enriched, this is one of the least developed areas of Fiji. The local roads are not up to the mark. The economy of the locality also depends on farming which is also dependent of exports. Besides, there are no banks in the island and thus the inhabitants are unfamiliar with modern banking system. Diving is one the most interesting thing here and tourists participate in diving and snorkeling. Initiatives have been adopted to make the island developed with external assistance. The visitors come here to escape from the modern life and enjoy the incredible natural beauty.


5. Ovalau:

Considered as the sixth largest island in Fiji, Ovalau is covers an area of 106.4 square kilometers. The flat island accommodates over 9000 people. This is in fact a volcanic crater with encircling lagoon. The only road, that circles the island, has taken shape of a track in some parts of the island. There is also an airport which operates two flights in a day with a cheap price. The visitors could also reach in the island with a ferry service while the transport inside the island is based on carriers. The only bus service is mostly used by the workers and school going children. The lagoons are tranquil while the beaches of the island take a gorgeous shape during the beginning and end of the day. This is a place of secret beauty and the tourists have to stay here for some times to enjoy the beauty and get mixed with the nature. The island is mostly the combination of a group of small villages and a town on the eastern coast and the people in the villages and towns are friendly to the tourists and visitors.


6. Suva:

Suva
Suva is the capital city of Fiji and is renowned for the British colonial building, broad avenues and lush parks across the city. The municipal markets sell different fruit and vegetables produced locally. The museum of Fiji is also enriched with local relics like war clubs, canoes, tattooing tools etc. which are the other attractions for the visitors. The city is located under the central division and the largest cosmopolitan city in the island. The population of the city is made up with the increased number of students from the Pacific region and some other expatriates are also living here. Based on the geographical location, the city was set as the capital of Fiji in 1877 and now it contains around 85,000 people. The city has held different international events and thus it has been developed with the external help. The harbor of the city has entered into the sea, the buildings are a combination of past and present and a hilly peninsula has improved its beauty. The city has been divided into six wards and each of the wards has distinctive values and responsibilities. The tropical rainforest climate is the other attraction for the city.



7. Nadi:

Considered as the transportation hub for the South Pacific country, Nadi is the main island on Fiji and also houses a reputed temple for the Indian Hindu population living in the island. The island is also famous for the Garden of the Sleeping Giant and the garden contains hiking trail and orchids of different types. The island is geographically located on the western part of the main island. The current population of the islands is around 42,000 and the population has grown to some extent considering the multicultural inhabitants. The island is mostly inhibited by Fijian and Indian people and a large number of foreign tourists always gather in the island to enjoy the natural beauties. As a result, the rate of hotels and motels are more concentrated in Nadi than the other islands of Fiji. Nadi is connected by an international airport and the travelers enter into the island form the airport. Before establishing township at Nadi, it was under colonial domination and a few businessmen used to establish their office here. The Nadi International Airport not only helps to communicate, this also houses some important offices as well. Visitors come round the year in the island to enjoy the natural beauty of the island nation.
 


8. Beqa:

Beqa
With the land areas of 36 square kilometers, Beqa is another island in Fiji. The highest altitude of the island is over 450 meters. The entire island is made with nine villages where different types of villagers live peacefully. A few of the villages are renowned for fire walking. Usually someone walks through fire and people who can walk through the fire are considered as special human beings. The island produces energy from wind and solar power and the island inhabitants meet all of their needs. The economy has been based on the tourism in the island. The island has four resorts to accommodate the visitors. The resorts also provide with the necessary indoor and outdoor amusement facilities to the tourists and visitors. Besides, there are some farming ventures as well but those are in small scale. So, most of the times, the inhabitants have to rely on imported agro-products. The inhabitants of the island are friendly to the visitors and serve them with great care and the experiences that the visitors make are unforgettable. Shark diving is one of the important recreational activities here. Moreover, the foods are also delicious and served hot for the visitors whenever they want.


9.  Savusavu:

Lying at the south coast of Vanua Levu Island, Savusavu is a wonderful tourist destination in Fiji and a town of the island nation. The current population of the city is estimated by around 3372 people. The town is also known as the hidden paradise of Fiji to the locals for its extraordinary beauty. The city is visited by travelers around the world. There are only two ways for communicating with the city – either by airplane or by ferry. The airplane sets out for Savusavu from Nadi airport and it takes around one hour to reach the city while the ferry is accessible from Suva and the trip may take half of the day. The city is famous for different reasons and the hot springs is one of them. Besides, there are some gifts shops, travel agencies and rental apartment offices are also available here. The city history tells that it was a trading center for different products including sandalwood, copra, and beche-de- mer before the growth of tourism. The tourists prefer scuba diving here and they also love yachting as well. The resorts in the city are comfortable as well and the visitors mostly gather in the resorts to get entertained and enjoy the natural looks.



10. Vanua Levu:

Vanua Levu
Vanua Levu is considered as the second largest island of Fiji and it was formerly termed as the Sandalwood Island. The island covers an area of 5587.1 square kilometers while the population of the island is around 135,961 as per the 2007 estimation. The island has been formed in combination of several islands, according to the geologists and thus different parts of the island are shaped into different manners. Some of the parts are rough while the other parts are tall and hilly. There are some peaks in the island and the highest peak is known as Mount Batini. Dry climate prevails around eight months of a year and thus the numbers of grown crops are limited. Only sugar cane grows in plenty on the land. The river filled with sharks might turn dangerous if well care is not adopted over the sharks. Among the populations, Indians are more than the other nationals and tourism is started influencing the local economy. The island is separated in to three administrative parts. The island was discovered by a Dutch navigator in 1643 and trading began on the island since the early part of the 18tyh century. Now this is one the most important tourist destinations in Fiji.
